6 new namespaces: Astrology, Vedic, Panchang, Numerology, Astronomy, Ephemeris

Mahesh Naidu·7 min read

Today we shipped 87 new endpoints across 6 namespaces — the largest single release in APlicious history. This brings the platform to 21 namespaces and 302+ live endpoints, all under one API key.

What shipped

All 6 namespaces are live and production-ready today:

  • Astrology (20 endpoints) — Western tropical natal charts, transits, synastry, daily horoscopes, aspects, Arabic Parts, solar return, progressed sun, and more. Powered by astronomy-engine (JPL-grade ephemeris).
  • Vedic Astrology (15 endpoints) — Kundli, Vimshottari Dasha, nakshatra, divisional charts (D1–D60), yoga detection, navamsa, Ashtakavarga, compatibility, muhurta. Lahiri ayanamsa, all 9 grahas + Rahu/Ketu.
  • Panchang (15 endpoints) — Full Hindu almanac: tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, Rahu Kaal, choghadiya, abhijit muhurta, muhurta finder, varsha panchang, and more.
  • Numerology (14 endpoints) — Life path, expression, soul urge, pinnacles, challenges, personal year, compatibility, lucky numbers — Pythagorean and Chaldean systems.
  • Astronomy (13 endpoints) — Planet positions, rise/set times, solar and lunar eclipses, moon phase, equinox/solstice, conjunctions, planetary visibility, sky events.
  • Ephemeris (10 endpoints) — Raw developer-tier data: Julian dates, sidereal time, obliquity, Delta-T, precession, lunar nodes, star catalog (800+ fixed stars).

The tech behind it

All six namespaces run on two engines. The astronomy-engine npm package handles Western astrology and astronomy — it uses JPL DE421 data and runs fully in Node.js with no native dependencies. For Vedic and Panchang, we use Swiss Ephemeris (swisseph), for which we hold a full commercial perpetual license — no per-call fees, no royalties.

The swisseph package is a native C addon compiled via node-gyp. Vercel standard serverless functions run on Amazon Linux and fully support native .node binaries — no WASM required. We bundle the .se1 ephemeris data files viaoutputFileTracingIncludes in next.config.js.

Market opportunity

Astrotalk alone generates over ₹1,000 crore (~$120M) annually. Co-Star has 20 million users. 77% of Gen Z reports believing in astrology. India's 1.4 billion population consults panchang daily. 120 million Americans say they follow numerology. And yet quality APIs for this space barely exist — most are expensive, poorly documented, or locked behind heavy usage fees.

APlicious gives you verified, calculation-accurate ephemeris data for one flat API key price. Build the next Astrotalk, the next Co-Star, or a niche panchang app for your local temple — the data tier is the same.

What you can build today

  • Birth chart SaaS with daily transit alerts (astrology namespace)
  • Marriage compatibility and kundli matching app for the Indian market (vedic namespace)
  • WhatsApp panchang bot — send today's tithi, nakshatra, and Rahu Kaal every morning (panchang namespace)
  • Baby name numerology tool — score names by life path compatibility (numerology namespace)
  • Stargazing companion app with tonight's visible planets and next eclipse (astronomy namespace)
  • Astrology calculation library backed by real JPL ephemeris (ephemeris namespace)

Full business plans with starter code and revenue projections are at aplicious.com/build. All endpoints are documented with live Try-It at aplicious.com/docs.
